VMware Focuses On 'Any Cloud, Any Time' At VMworld 2016 Europe

VMware announced plans to move beyond on premises, continued focus on the cloud and its partner program at VMworld 2016 Europe.

Many managers vSphere long might wonder what happens to VMware in the cloud world, especially with the recent partnership with Amazon and other vendors biting at his heels. I had the opportunity to sit down with some of the visionary leaders of VMware at VMworld Europe 2016 to discuss how the company brings all the virtualization platform to new heights and take the fight to the other suppliers. The introduction of vSphere 6.5 - 6.5 with VSANs, Site Recovery Manager and Virtual Volumes 6.5 2.0 - VMware can help you take the next level.

Out with the old, in with the cloud

Before digging, make absolutely clear: the software on site in the old style of vCenter and a couple of bunches sit on the insulation is in the notice. Such a configuration does not provide the type of toolset required by the world of automated self-supply and where everything should be available at any time.

Private clouds and clouds at the site will eventually be one of them. There, he must have the same agility and automation, but keep Local - nothing more, nothing less. There will be progress in vSphere, but do not expect the features are centered on the scene, because the emphasis is now on public and private cloud.

Looking at the press conference at VMworld Europe 2016, immediately it became that VMware is changing rapidly beyond the hypervisor. VMware is agnostic about an administrator runs and where it is headed, placing the company to be suppliers of Switzerland and cloud management.

In short, the ethos could be summed up in the motto of the conference "every cloud, anytime" with the familiarity of vSphere hide the complexities of cloud administrator. Administrators no longer need to address the interfaces of different cloud providers to provide virtual resources.

VMware is an option - vSphere 6.5, launched at VMworld Europe 2016, speaks all main dialects of the cloud, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure and several other vendors.

What many people move to AWS do not realize it is that even if the cost base can be attractive, it lacks many features. For example, if you select High Availability vCenter and one host fails, simply restart on another host; AWS outside the box has no such functionality. It's just a problem with AWS. There are ways around these problems, but they come at an extra cost.

The strength of VMware's partnerships

I spoke to David Zolnier, senior marketing of VMware, who said that one of the things that distinguishes VMware from its competitors is the strength of the VMware Partner Network. The company has a long-term strategic plan to coexist with its partners. Zolnier described the network as a "kinder and better investment ecosystem, it is a more friendly habitat with positive long-term relationships.

To date, Microsoft's relationship with its partners has been somewhat acrimonious, with Microsoft essentially telling partners to create their own intellectual property for sale, while Microsoft gets from licensing revenue for any agreement focuses on partners. The margins of offers for Microsoft partners have been described as non-existent. Essentially, VMware partners make the dollar more per transaction than the equivalent Microsoft partners.

VMware admits that having such a wide range of products makes it more difficult for customers and partners to gain a deeper understanding of the full range of the company, especially in a competitive situation. Zolnier assured me that VMware is working hard to solve this problem.
The new partnership with VMware AWS also be monitored.

Looking to the future at VMworld 2016 Europe

VMware not only competes on price, but competing in functionality. The socket for the cost of provisioning for VM, often considered the biggest problem, is only part of a larger picture.

VMware has lined up some interesting technologies that are mature in the coming years, including AirWatch. Mobile phones, tablets and others are at the saturation point, but VMware offers mobile management facilities that far exceed other competitors and the power of massive scale.

AirWatch offers a management solution that works with mobile devices not only all major phone manufacturers, but also almost any Internet device things that a company may require. Innovative markets like this VMware placed in the forefront in terms of new markets and, in the words of Zolnier "upper quadrant" in the famous Gartner quadrant matrix.

VMware also has customer loyalty in spades. VMware has experienced rising incomes of all metrics from one year to another. Average customer loyalty for VMware is more than 10 years, which is unknown. VMware platform has become standard in virtualization circles.

NSX is the future

In all VMware products, the jewel in its crown is NSX. NSX is unique, providing much raw in terms of security, including microsegmentation in VM after the virtual machine as it moves. This essentially hits the rules to the virtual machine. NSX also simplifies administration and facilitates understanding for administrators. No other company has a product supply and NSX.

This approach fits perfectly with the constant concern for the safety of VMware. Zolnier mentioned that most of the cases that come into play starting with "safety talk".

Features like this make one VMware multivendor hypervisor / virtualization and cloud leader in cloud space. VMware plays freshness and creates new markets around its wide range of products.

VSphere administrators have two advantages for VMworld 2016 Europe: First, VMware is expanding its offerings across all platforms, not just on the hypervisor. Second, VMware administrator must also adapt and evolve. Administrators should reuse the new reality that virtualization is everywhere. The future is all mobile managed, the future is VMware.
